Frequently Asked Questions
1. Is the Toxygen a “closed system” or “open system” device?
The Toxygen is a “closed system” colonic irrigation device. A closed system is described as one that allows water to enter the colon through a disposable plastic tube and waste material to exit through a larger tube, from there it flows through an observation tube and into the drainage system. The water temperature and pressure are controlled by a therapist guided by gauges on the instrument. The regulation of the temperature and pressure can be customized to the patient's comfort. There is no open evacuation and no offensive odors. The patient is fully draped, their dignity is respected at all times.
2. Does the Toxygen require a therapist to administer the procedure?
Yes! The therapist is an integral and important part of the treatment. There is a synergism that takes place which involves the expertise of the therapist, the technology of the equipment and the cooperation of the patient. This results in a treatment that is comfortable for the patient and achieves the desired outcome. The therapist may also integrate various types of bodywork such as massage to enhance the session.
3. Is the patient ever left alone during a treatment?
No! The safety and comfort of the patient are of utmost importance. They are attended to at all times. They are never left alone or “just outside the door”.
4. Is there any clinical evidence that the Toxygen cleanses the entire colon?
Yes! Studies conducted in the United States and China show that the Toxygen, when used as preparation for colonoscopy was as good as, if not better than, standard purgative methods.
Our research indicates that the Toxygen is the only colon therapy device clinically proven to be effective.
5. Does the Toxygen require a lot of space?
No! The Toxygen is a compact device that is connected to plumbing and hangs on a wall.
It can be used with a standard treatment or massage table. The room can be utilized for other therapies when not being used for colon hydrotherapy.
6. What kind of plumbing is necessary?
Hot and cold water supply lines and a drain line are required. Complete plumbing specifications are available. The Toxygen comes complete with quick connect fittings for easy installation. Installation can easily be done by a qualified plumber. Installation video and manual come with every instrument.
7. Is the water filtered?
Yes! The Toxygen comes equipped with a three stage patented water filtration system for particle removal, chlorine reduction, and bacteria and virus reduction.
8. Is anything required to control the odor?
No! Some systems require special fans or blowers for odor control. As a closed system, waste material is always contained therefore eliminating the need for fans or blowers.
9. What about clean-up?
The Toxygen utilizes disposable speculums and tubing which are simply removed and discarded after each treatment. The instrument is self-cleaning and can be ready for the next patient in as little as 10 minutes. Unlike other devices, the cleaning system is designed to allow sufficient contact time for the disinfectant to be fully effective.
10. What about quality control?
